Ryan Tipton and the Cordova High School baseball team flexed their muscles against Galt on Monday.

Tipton, a sophomore, tossed a no-hitter against the Warriors in a rain make-up Sierra Valley Conference game. Lots of offense led to Cordova (4-3 in the SVC, 5-7) producing an 11-0 win over Galt. The game was called after five innings because of the 10-run mercy rule.

On the mound, Tipton went the distance, striking out three and walked one. He hit two batters, but the Lancers’ defense recorded the outs to prevent the Warriors from scoring. He threw only 66 pitches.

The no-hitter by a Lancer baseball is the first in many years, according to Cordova baseball head coach Doug Hughes. As of press time, it was not known as to the last time a Cordova baseball player tossed a no-hitter.

On the offensive side, Tipton received plenty of punch by his Lancer teammates. Logan Appino went 3-for-4 with an RBI, scored twice and had three stolen bases. Nick Ravareau went 4-for-4 that included two doubles. Jordan Meyers and Jeremy Buck had two hits each. Tipton also had a hit to help out in the Lancers’ offensive attack.

In an SVC home game on March 31st, the Lancers had nine hits. Buck had one-third of those hits with three and three RBIs, followed by two from Appino.

Meyers went five innings on the mound for the Lancers, allowed five hits and struck out three. Spencer Gudgel tossed the final two frames, allowed no hits and struck out one.

Zach Guererro had four hits and Trevor Ready three for Cordova, which had 13 in the March 29th road game.

On Wednesday, Cordova hosted Union Mine in an SVC game. Today, Friday, the Lancers and Diamondbacks hook up again for the home-and-home series, this time in El Dorado. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
