RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - Each year, City of Rancho Cordova employees raise funds for the city’s Community Pride Scholarship program to support graduating seniors in our community as they move onto their next chapter. We are proud to announce this year’s winners, Christiana Laret and Janice Chang.

Laret graduated from Cordova High School, where she competed in track and field and served as team captain of the Cordova Girls’ Golf Team. She has demonstrated a strong commitment to serving her community through volunteer work and leadership within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Future Farmers of America program.

“These experiences which I have had within these programs and activities shaped my character, strengthened my leadership skills, and inspired me to pursue a future where I can continue to make a difference,” said Laret. “I am eager to continue making a positive impact wherever I go.”

Laret plans to attend the University of Idaho where she will take part in the PGA Management Program to pursue a career in the golf industry.

Chang graduated from Cordova High School. Uniting her passion for mathematics and her dedication to making resources accessible, Chang founded Cordova High School’s Mathletes club to address academic challenges faced by her peers.

“Creating Mathletes was not only about raising proficiency levels, but transforming the way people think about math, and by extension, themselves and their ability to solve unfamiliar problems,” said Chang.

Chang plans to major in molecular and cellular biology at Johns Hopkins University where she will pursue research regarding skin diseases.

“Rancho Cordova is proud to support graduating seniors as they pursue further opportunities in education,” said Mayor Siri Pulipati. “Congratulations to the 2025 Community Pride Scholarship winners.”
